ROLE OVERVIEW
Provides and arranges for services necessary for installation, repair, operation and maintenance of medical gas system such as Acetylene, Ammonia, Argon, Helium, Isobutane, Methane, Nitrogen, Nitrous Oxide, Zero Air, Oxygen, Nitrox oxide, Air Vacuum, instrument air, carbon dioxide and associated equipment of project buildings and facilities. Performs assigned duties promptly and proficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with all medical gas standards and safety policies, including license requirements, attendance, and training protocols.
- Install new or replacement machinery, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with applicable building codes and regulations.
- Maintain, repair, and operate various mechanical systems, tools, and equipment used in medical gas systems.
- Inspect and test medical gas outlets, inlets, zone valves, alarm systems, and source equipment in healthcare facilities.
- Perform maintenance on vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, and medical gas manifold systems.
- Repair medical gas equipment using hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment.
- Install medical gas piping systems and associated distribution components in compliance with technical standards.
- Evaluate repair requirements and prepare technical reports and proposals for customers as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections of facility systems, identify deficiencies, and initiate corrective maintenance actions.
- Respond to client requests and resolve facility-related technical issues in a timely manner.
- Perform welding, brazing, and soldering tasks in accordance with industry standards and approved practices.
- Assist technical staff in troubleshooting, repair work, and installation of facility equipment.
- Monitor pump and motor operations across different facility zones and report abnormalities.
- Ensure all equipment is operating correctly and report deficiencies to the supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment at all times.
- Perform all duties in compliance with applicable regulations including NFPA 99, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company policies.
- Respond to emergency service calls and perform urgent repairs as required.
REQUIREMENTS
What We're Looking For
- Relevant experience as a Medical Gas Technician in installation, maintenance, or servicing of medical gas systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply plans, specifications, blueprints, diagrams, codes, and work orders accurately.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing, and other related technical disciplines.
- Good troubleshooting skills to identify system issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Ability to clearly communicate system faults and technical issues to co-workers and management.
- Ability to evaluate and process computer-based work orders with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate tools and equipment to avoid injury or damage.
- ASSE 6040 or HTM 02-01 certification is preferred.
- Valid driving license is an added advantage.
